Chapter 243: Landlord Ye Qiu
“Hello, beautiful. My name is Ye Qiu, Ye as in Ye Qiu, and Qiu as in Ye Qiu.”
The man locally known as “Xiao Ye” approached Song Zhenyu, noticing the rental advertisement she was holding.
Song Zhenyu paused in surprise and instinctively ended her call. Simultaneously, Ye Qiu’s phone stopped ringing, confirming his identity.
Song Zhenyu offered a cordial smile and said, “Hello, I’m interested in renting a room. The ad mentioned an interview. Do I meet your criteria for a tenant?”
“Are you single?” Ye Qiu inquired directly.
“Ah? Well, I…”
“Alright, you’ve passed the interview,” Ye Qiu cut her off before she could respond.
“That simple?” Song Zhenyu was astonished by the ease of his decision.
“Yes, it’s that simple.” Ye Qiu nodded with a grin, observing Song Zhenyu with satisfaction.
His so-called interview had only one requirement: a single beauty.
Ye Qiu was not short on money; he was actually quite wealthy. He was tired of living life on the edge and yearned for a peaceful and leisurely lifestyle.
Despite claiming to be retiring, Ye Qiu was only twenty-six years old.
His late parents left him a property, which he renovated after returning. The residential building had about twenty-one apartments, and besides himself, it could house twenty tenants.
Ye Qiu intended to fill the place with beautiful female tenants. Song Zhenyu, the first to apply, matched his requirements perfectly; she was truly a beauty among beauties.
With Ye Qiu’s approval, Song Zhenyu felt uneasy. The landlord was a man, the rent was suspiciously low, and he asked if she was single. These factors naturally raised concerns for Song Zhenyu.
“Don’t worry, beautiful. I’m not a bad person. You can ask the neighbors about me. If you still have concerns, we can go to the police station together to register,” Ye Qiu offered, noticing her hesitation.
“Alright, let’s do that,” Song Zhenyu replied, feeling slightly more reassured.
She was on a tight budget, limiting her rental options. This place was quiet, the rent was affordable, and it met her needs perfectly, so she didn’t want to miss the opportunity.
“Do you want to see the apartment now?” Ye Qiu asked.
“I’ve already seen the photos in the ad, so no need. Are you available now, Mr. Ye?” Song Zhenyu asked.
“I’m free,” Ye Qiu nodded, sensing she still had doubts. He then suggested, “There’s a police station nearby. Let’s go register first.”
“Okay!” Song Zhenyu agreed promptly.
Twenty minutes later, they left the police station after completing the registration.
“Mr. Ye, thank you so much. When would it be convenient for me to move in?” Song Zhenyu inquired.
Ye Qiu replied, “Anytime.”
Song Zhenyu was overjoyed and quickly responded, “That’s fantastic. I’ll go get my luggage right away.”
Ye Qiu eagerly offered, “Where’s your luggage? I’ll come with you and help you move it.”
“Isn’t that too much trouble for you?” Song Zhenyu hesitated.
“It’s no trouble at all,” Ye Qiu insisted.
“Then… thank you!” Song Zhenyu considered for a moment before agreeing.
Lately, a persistent admirer had been bothering her for her contact information, threatening to wait for her daily. Since she needed to retrieve her luggage from the dormitory, having Ye Qiu accompany her seemed prudent to avoid harassment.
With arrangements in place, Song Zhenyu and Ye Qiu headed to the women’s dormitory at the Qingling campus.
…
“The number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and dial again…”
Wang Haoran looked at his phone in confusion. The number he dialed belonged to Song Zhenyu. Just over two months ago, the number was still active, but now it was out of service.
This puzzled Wang Haoran. Phones don’t typically go out of service in less than three months unless deliberately canceled.
Why would Song Zhenyu do that?
With questions swirling in his mind, Wang Haoran contacted other teachers at Shuizhe High School and quickly learned that Song Zhenyu had resigned and no one knew her whereabouts.
After ending the call, Wang Haoran recalled Wen Jing’s suggestion. Could it be that Teacher Song really came to Qingling University?
“You guys, come over here,” Wang Haoran called out to Liu Hua, Wei Zhihang, and a few other classmates, resolving to investigate.
They gathered promptly at his command. Wang Haoran’s dominant aura exerted a powerful influence over these minor troublemakers, who had become his followers.
“Boss, what’s up?” Liu Hua asked eagerly.
“Where’s Lu Ming?” Wang Haoran noticed someone missing from class.
“Third Brother skipped class to chase a girl,” Liu Hua explained.
“Chase a girl?” Wang Haoran frowned.
“Yeah, he spotted a stunning beauty on campus yesterday and was smitten. Today, he went to find her,” Liu Hua elaborated.
It seemed that events were developing again…
Hearing this, Wang Haoran acted swiftly. As a minor villain, Lu Ming’s pursuit of a beauty was likely to trigger trouble, especially if it attracted the wrath of a protagonist.
The only question was whose wrath it would trigger.
With this in mind, Wang Haoran called Lu Ming.
“Third Brother, did you catch up with her?” Wang Haoran asked as soon as Lu Ming answered.
“Not yet. I’ve been waiting forever, and she hasn’t appeared,” Lu Ming complained.
He hasn’t faced a protagonist’s interference yet. I might still be in time!
Realizing this, Wang Haoran quickly assessed the situation. “Where are you? We’ll come to support you,” he offered, planning to claim any main female character that might be involved.
“Really? Thanks, Boss! I’m at…” Lu Ming provided his location.
“Let’s go,” Wang Haoran ordered, signaling to Liu Hua and the others. A group of seven or eight of them marched out of the classroom, ready to intervene.
