Chapter 164: Kept in the Dark
At this moment, the female shop assistant that Su Lang had called over arrived and took the mermaid-style wedding dress off the mannequin.
“Madam, you have great taste. This wedding dress truly complements your style,” the shop assistant warmly praised, gesturing towards another direction. “The fitting room is just over there. Do you need any help?”
“Thank you, I can manage on my own,” Yang Jingwan politely declined.
“Of course,” the shop assistant nodded, then glanced at Wang Haoran and Su Lang standing nearby. Suddenly, she addressed Wang Haoran, “Sir, there is a matching men’s suit for this mermaid-style wedding dress. Would you like to try it on?”
Yang Jingwan was a bit surprised but couldn’t help but admire the shop assistant’s intuition!
Meanwhile, Su Lang’s face hardened with displeasure.
“You blind fool, I’m her husband!” Su Lang snapped at the shop assistant.
“Ah? I’m so sorry, that was my mistake. My apologies,” the shop assistant quickly bowed and apologized for the misunderstanding.
“Keep your eyes open next time,” Su Lang reprimanded her again.
The shop assistant apologized once more but felt it wasn’t entirely her fault. After all, Yang Jingwan and Wang Haoran looked like a perfect match, a couple made in heaven. Conversely, Su Lang appeared quite ordinary and didn’t seem to match Yang Jingwan. However, she kept these thoughts to herself and refrained from voicing them.
“Sir, would you like to try on the men’s suit?” the shop assistant asked again.
“Go fetch it,” Su Lang replied with a snort.
“Yes, of course,” the shop assistant quickly brought over the men’s suit.
“Help me with this,” Su Lang said to the shop assistant, as he was unsure about how to tie a tie.
The shop assistant nodded and followed Su Lang to the fitting room.
“I’m going to change into the wedding dress,” Yang Jingwan said sweetly to Wang Haoran when no one else was around and then walked towards the fitting room.
Surprisingly, Wang Haoran followed her in and even locked the door behind them.
“Why did you come in too?” Yang Jingwan asked, her heart racing with anxiety.
“Well, the wedding dress has a zipper at the back. I thought you might have trouble reaching it, so I came to help,” Wang Haoran explained.
“Oh,” Yang Jingwan nodded and, feeling a bit shy, said, “Turn around, please.”
Wang Haoran stood his ground, his eyes fixed on Yang Jingwan.
Yang Jingwan felt a bit flustered but secretly delighted.
…
“You look quite good,” Su Lang had already changed into the suit and was admiring himself in front of the full-length mirror in the store, feeling pleased.
“Sir, you look incredibly dashing in this suit!” the shop assistant complimented.
“Am I not handsome without the suit?” Su Lang retorted.
“Hehe, of course, you’re handsome, you’re handsome,” the shop assistant replied with a professional smile, thinking to herself that this man lacked self-awareness. Doesn’t he know if he’s handsome or not?
“Hey, why hasn’t my wife changed into the wedding dress yet?” Su Lang asked.
“Women generally take longer to change, especially with wedding dresses,” the shop assistant replied with a smile.
Su Lang found this reasonable and continued to wait.
However, after nearly twenty minutes, there was still no sign of Yang Jingwan, and her phone was turned off and unreachable.
“Wife, are you in there?”
“Wife, are you in there?”
…
Su Lang grew anxious and started knocking on the fitting room doors one by one.
“Ah!” A poorly closed door was pushed open by Su Lang, revealing a pair of strangers in disheveled clothes, with the woman screaming in fright.
The shop assistant quickly closed the door that Su Lang had inadvertently opened.
Su Lang’s face darkened, and he prepared to continue knocking on other doors.
“Sir, please calm down. Your wife is definitely just changing into the wedding dress,” the shop assistant said, fearing Su Lang might lose his temper.
“Don’t talk nonsense. My wife is well-educated and conservative. She only loves me and would never do such a thing. I’m just worried that something might have happened to her,” Su Lang insisted.
“Let me handle it. Sir, as a man, this could easily be misunderstood. Let me do it; I’m a woman, so it’s more appropriate,” the shop assistant suggested.
“Hurry up,” Su Lang urged.
“Alright, alright,” the shop assistant nodded quickly and began knocking on the fitting room doors until she found Yang Jingwan’s room.
Yang Jingwan, dressed in a white mermaid-style wedding dress, opened the fitting room door slightly and stepped out, coughing a few times as she covered her mouth with her hand.
“Wife, what’s wrong?” Su Lang asked with concern.
“Cough, cough, water… get… water,” Yang Jingwan managed between coughs.
“I’ll get it right away,” Su Lang hurried to fetch some water.
“Madam, are you feeling alright?” the shop assistant asked with concern, seeing Yang Jingwan’s flushed face from coughing.
“Water’s here, water’s here!” Su Lang returned with a bottle of mineral water.
After drinking, Yang Jingwan’s complexion improved, and she stopped coughing.
“What happened just now?” Su Lang asked anxiously.
“I felt a bit lightheaded and dizzy,” Yang Jingwan explained calmly, though her heart was still racing.
“No wonder it took so long for you to change into the dress,” Su Lang nodded, understanding.
“See, I told you, this dress looks stunning on you,” Wang Haoran appeared and praised Yang Jingwan.
“No matter how beautiful, she’s still my wife and has nothing to do with you. Stay away,” Su Lang told Wang Haoran unhappily.
“Yes, yes, she’s your wife, nothing to do with me,” Wang Haoran chuckled.
Yang Jingwan lowered her head, glancing at Wang Haoran secretly, thinking to herself about how thrilling his presence made her feel just moments ago.
“This mermaid-style wedding dress has a noble and mature vibe. It’s designed with a slim and narrow concept, and the wide skirt below the knees resembles a mermaid’s tail, perfectly showcasing your figure. Are you satisfied with it?” the shop assistant asked with a smile.
“I’ll take this wedding dress,” Yang Jingwan decided immediately. She hadn’t invested much thought into this wedding, so choosing a dress casually was fine with her.
“Wonderful,” the shop assistant replied cheerfully.
Yang Jingwan took off the wedding dress, and Su Lang also changed out of the suit, allowing the shop assistant to pack everything.
“Madam, please proceed to the checkout over there,” the shop assistant guided Yang Jingwan towards the cashier counter.
