Chapter 156: Extensive Publicity
Just after the morning class ended, Wang Haoran noticed an incoming call. He quickly found a quiet spot and answered the phone.
“Have you finally made up your mind?” Wang Haoran chuckled.
The night before last, he had asked Cheng Rui to send him a photo, but she only replied today. It seemed she took her time deciding.
“Is Ma Hongsheng’s coma connected to you?” Cheng Rui asked seriously, ignoring the subject of the photo.
“Why would you think that?” Wang Haoran replied calmly.
“Since you were able to discreetly deal with Ma Weicai, you could certainly have done the same to Ma Hongsheng.”
“Didn’t the hospital examine him thoroughly? They said he had a strange illness.”
“But a miracle doctor came and said Ma Hongsheng was poisoned, not suffering from a strange illness. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence Ma Hongsheng was poisoned!”
“A miracle doctor? Where did this miracle doctor come from?” Wang Haoran became serious.
“Apparently, he’s from the capital.”
“Does Ma Hongsheng have such connections?”
“It’s not his own connections; a young man brought him over. That young man has a mysterious identity, and Ma Hongsheng shows him great respect.”
Hearing this, Wang Haoran quickly deduced that the mysterious young man Cheng Rui mentioned was none other than the war god, Su Lang. Only someone with Su Lang’s status could bring over a miracle doctor from the capital so quickly.
“What did the miracle doctor say? Is he confident he can cure Ma Hongsheng’s poison?” Wang Haoran asked seriously, putting aside his relaxed demeanor.
“From what Ma Hongsheng said, it seems the miracle doctor is very confident.”
“Very confident?” Wang Haoran couldn’t help but smile, regaining his relaxed demeanor.
The Seven-Colored Lotus Poison had a very concealed auxiliary poison added to it. Even a miracle doctor with extraordinary medical skills would need considerable time to research and identify the auxiliary poisons before they could treat it specifically and completely cure Ma Hongsheng.
If the miracle doctor treating Ma Hongsheng claimed to be very confident, it was evident he hadn’t even detected the hidden auxiliary poisons of the Seven-Colored Lotus Poison. This level of medical skill was at most on par with Xiao Yifeng.
“If Ma Hongsheng recovers, it won’t be beneficial for either of us. Why do I feel like you don’t care at all?” Cheng Rui found Wang Haoran’s tone a bit odd.
“Don’t worry about that. I need you to do something for me.”
“What is it?”
“Make the miracle doctor’s treatment process widely known. As for how to do it and what methods to use, you figure it out.”
“You think the miracle doctor can’t cure Ma Hongsheng, right? Why are you so sure?”
“That’s a secret. If you want to know, you know what to do.”
Beep beep.
Cheng Rui didn’t say anything and directly hung up the phone.
However, about five minutes later, Wang Haoran received a WeChat message from Cheng Rui.
The message read: Delete after reading.
A few seconds later, Cheng Rui sent a photo.
Wang Haoran stared at it for a few minutes before reluctantly deleting the photo.
“Nice figure,” Wang Haoran playfully sent a message.
“Answer,” Cheng Rui replied with two words almost instantly.
“The miracle doctor’s skills aren’t enough to cure my poison. If he tries to cure it recklessly, it will only backfire and worsen the condition,” Wang Haoran explained in a message and then reminded her:
“The mysterious young man and the miracle doctor staying by Ma Hongsheng’s side won’t benefit you either. Remember to do as I said.”
“Leave it to me.”
After replying, Cheng Rui got up from the bed. Her neck injury was just a superficial wound, and her body was only slightly weak, so walking wasn’t a problem.
Soon, she arrived at Ma Hongsheng’s room.
“A’Rui, why aren’t you resting?” Ma Hongsheng asked with concern when he saw her.
“I’m fine. I wanted to move around a bit; otherwise, I feel like my bones are rusting,” Cheng Rui explained and then looked at the other two people in the room.
She had met Su Lang once or twice before, and the other man with a square face and a long beard was evidently the miracle doctor.
“Are you the miracle doctor who can treat Hongsheng? How confident are you?” Cheng Rui asked, feigning nervousness.
Miracle Doctor Xue frowned at being questioned and seemed a bit displeased.
“This is my wife. She’s very concerned about my condition, so she came to check. Please don’t mind her,” Ma Hongsheng said to Miracle Doctor Xue with a smile, trying to ease his mood. Then he turned to Cheng Rui:
“A’Rui, don’t worry. This miracle doctor from the capital is treating me. My strange illness will be cured soon, so there’s no need to worry.”
“I want to stay and watch,” Cheng Rui insisted.
“Alright, but you’re weak, so don’t stand for too long. Sit down,” Ma Hongsheng said, bringing over a chair for Cheng Rui to sit.
Miracle Doctor Xue was secretly displeased with Cheng Rui’s actions but didn’t say anything more. After all, he relied on Ma Hongsheng to help with publicity.
“Mr. Ma, don’t forget about the publicity,” Miracle Doctor Xue reminded.
“Don’t worry, Miracle Doctor Xue. I’ve got it covered,” Ma Hongsheng assured him.
“Publicity for what?” Cheng Rui asked, seizing the opportunity.
“I promised Miracle Doctor Xue that after he cures me, I’d promote his name among my circle of friends,” Ma Hongsheng explained.
“I see,” Cheng Rui nodded and said to Miracle Doctor Xue:
“May I ask, Miracle Doctor, can you guarantee a 100% cure for Hongsheng’s strange illness?”
“Of course,” Miracle Doctor Xue replied with a snort.
“In that case, why wait for after the treatment to publicize? Why not invite your wealthy friends to witness it firsthand? What could be more effective than seeing it with their own eyes?” Cheng Rui suggested to Ma Hongsheng.
Ma Hongsheng couldn’t help but nod, thinking it was a great idea, but he still sought Miracle Doctor Xue’s opinion:
“Miracle Doctor, what do you think?”
“Your wife’s suggestion is excellent,” Miracle Doctor Xue agreed with a smile, changing his attitude towards Cheng Rui.
Letting those wealthy people witness his skills firsthand would indeed be more effective than verbal promotion.
“Great, since the miracle doctor agrees, I’ll immediately inform my wealthy friends,” Ma Hongsheng said promptly.
“If we’re going to publicize, why not notify the media as well?” Cheng Rui suggested again.
“There’s no need to notify the media,” Miracle Doctor Xue immediately rejected.
He treated only the wealthy and had no interest in dealing with ordinary people. To him, media publicity for the general public was unnecessary.
“I think it’s a good idea to notify the media,” Su Lang interjected unexpectedly.
