Chapter 252: Unwelcome
Yesterday, Bian Suwen learned about her junior apprentice’s predicament. He had been detained for worsening the illness of Qingling’s wealthiest man while attempting treatment. However, he had yet to be convicted, indicating a chance to rectify the situation.
The resolution lay with the richest man of Qingling. Unfortunately, his condition was dire, as he was nearly in a coma. The decision-maker was his wife.
Bian Suwen’s initial plan was to cure the richest man to counterbalance her junior apprentice’s mistake. But since direct treatment was no longer feasible, she aimed to privately negotiate with the wife to secure her apprentice’s release and later address the main issue.
After contemplating her strategy, Bian Suwen activated her network—primarily her three sisters and one brother. Having spent years in the capital, she was not well-acquainted with Qingling. Furthermore, a relationship fallout years ago led her to distance herself from this place, leaving her with limited connections.
Because the ill person was a music student, Qiu Qianwei was already at the hospital. Bian Suwen reached out to Ji Shuiyao, Liu Yue, and Lin Chen.
Twenty minutes later, four people arrived. Besides the three Bian Suwen contacted, an uninvited guest appeared—Wang Haoran.
Wang Haoran returned for a straightforward reason. Liu Yue was teaching when she abruptly left due to an urgent matter, heading somewhere with Lin Chen. Determined not to leave the protagonist and the heroine alone, Wang Haoran followed to observe the situation.
Seeing the unexpected Wang Haoran, Bian Suwen was only slightly surprised and said little. She no longer disliked Wang Haoran, although she preferred to keep interactions minimal, treating him as an ordinary friend. Given her urgent situation, she merely glanced at Wang Haoran without greeting him, lacking the mood for pleasantries.
Bian Suwen expressed her wish to meet the richest man’s wife to Liu Yue, Ji Shuiyao, and Qiu Qianwei. However, despite their influence, none had ties to the wife, who was in the internet industry. This left Bian Suwen regretful.
At this moment, Lin Chen stepped forward, “Third Sister, I actually know the richest man’s wife, Cheng Rui. I can help you!”
“Xiao Chen, really?!” Bian Suwen reacted with surprise.
“Third Sister, I’m serious,” Lin Chen said with a smile and made a call before Bian Suwen.
A few minutes later, Lin Chen reported back, “No problem, I’ve scheduled a meeting with her.”
“Xiao Chen, you’re incredible!” Bian Suwen’s typically cold demeanor softened with a smile, and she asked, “When is the meeting?”
“In half an hour, at a café near Tianhui Clinic,” Lin Chen replied.
“In half an hour? Perfect, let’s head out immediately,” Bian Suwen said eagerly.
Nearby, Wang Haoran interjected, “I’m familiar with that area, let me join you.”
“Big brother, I’m driving a Pagani, which is faster, and I can’t fit three people, so it’s best you don’t come,” Lin Chen refused.
Bian Suwen glanced at Wang Haoran, “This isn’t your concern, so there’s no need to follow.”
“Let me come, maybe I can help,” Wang Haoran persisted.
“I already said it’s pointless for you to come. Why are you so persistent?” Bian Suwen, stressed, responded impatiently.
“Fine, remember you said that,” Wang Haoran, feeling slighted, was displeased, as he wasn’t one to grovel.
Lin Chen added smugly, “Bye, big brother.”
“Don’t get too confident. Should you ever need my help, you’ll have to call me dad,” Wang Haoran shot back.
“I’m capable enough not to need your help,” Lin Chen declared dismissively.
“Let’s go,” Bian Suwen urged Lin Chen, eager to move quickly.
The two promptly left the scene.
“Haoran, my third sister is stressed, don’t mind her,” Liu Yue said, showcasing concern for her student.
Ji Shuiyao messaged, “My third sister is wary of men due to her experiences. Her reaction isn’t specifically aimed at you.”
Meanwhile, Qiu Qianwei quietly sent Wang Haoran a “hug” emoji for comfort.
Wang Haoran read Ji Shuiyao and Qiu Qianwei’s messages, then replied to Liu Yue, “I’m fine with it.”
Indeed, he wasn’t upset, as he believed Bian Suwen and Lin Chen would soon return, and the dynamics would shift accordingly.
Liu Yue added, “Make sure you really are fine. Don’t bottle things up; otherwise, your master might say I’m neglecting you.”
Hearing Liu Yue refer to herself as “master’s wife” was irksome to Wang Haoran. After all, being demoted a generation was displeasing. Nevertheless, with Liu Yue acknowledging him as her husband online but treating him as a student in real life, it wasn’t a situation that could be altered presently.
“I need the restroom,” Wang Haoran said, excusing himself.
Once out of sight, Wang Haoran messaged Liu Yue.
“Call me husband.”
Liu Yue, puzzled, nevertheless moved to a quieter space and sent a voice message: “Husband!”
Feeling comforted, Wang Haoran replied with a quick “Good girl,” then made a phone call.
“Calling so soon again, what’s up?” Cheng Rui’s voice came through, sounding pleased.
“Do you know an eight-year-old named Lin Chen?” Wang Haoran inquired.
“How do you know? I met him yesterday while shopping with my son. He helped me find him when he got lost,” Cheng Rui explained.
Afterwards, she added, “He also set up a meeting with me.”
Listening to Cheng Rui, Wang Haoran silently lamented the protagonist’s inexplicable luck; meeting Cheng Rui and gaining a massive favor seemed almost unfair.
