At the wedding venue, Su Lang, dressed as the groom, surveyed his surroundings. His bearing was sharp and commanding, a striking difference from his previous image as a merely inadequate son-in-law. Although his appearance was still unremarkable, he emanated a unique masculine charm and a formidable aura. Those around him couldn’t help but look at him with respect.

“Sir, we’ve detected some intruders. Should we take action?” Tian Ying, disguised as a wedding banquet server, approached Su Lang in a low voice.

“No need. Just protect my wife; I’ll handle the rest,” Su Lang replied calmly.

“Yes, sir. Ten shadow guards are already stationed outside the lady’s room to ensure complete security!” Tian Ying confirmed and then stepped away.

Su Lang had eighteen shadow guards, each highly skilled. However, now there were seventeen, as An Ying was incapacitated and no longer a qualified shadow guard. Tian Ying led these shadow guards, and they were all disguised as hotel staff to discreetly oversee the events at the wedding venue. Most shadow guards were secretly safeguarding Yang Jingwan, while the others monitored the activities elsewhere.

At the reception desk, guests continued arriving. These guests were prominent figures from various industries, gathered to extend their congratulations. Yang Tai and Li Manli mingled among them, astonished to see many influential personalities they knew only from television. Under ordinary circumstances, meeting these notables would have been nearly impossible for them. Yet, today, they had come to celebrate the wedding.

The couple approached Su Lang, bewildered.

“Su Lang, did you invite all these people?” Li Manli asked incredulously.

“Yes,” Su Lang nodded, his demeanor no longer humble but filled with pride. “Mom, are you pleased with the wedding arrangements?”

“Yes, very satisfied!” Li Manli nodded eagerly and nervously added, “Good son-in-law, I didn’t know you were so capable. Why didn’t you say so earlier? I was tough on you before, only because I wanted you to succeed. You won’t hold it against me, will you?”

“Mom, what do you think?” Su Lang replied with a slight, cold smile.

Li Manli’s legs trembled at his response. She had treated Su Lang poorly in the past, often speaking harshly and making his life difficult. Now, seeing Su Lang’s cold demeanor, how could she not be afraid?

“Good son-in-law, I won’t make you cook or clean anymore. I was wrong. Please forgive me,” Li Manli, usually sharp-tongued, now seemed meek.

“Yes, good son-in-law, we’re family. Harmony is most important,” Yang Tai added, equally uneasy.

Seeing the couple’s fearful expressions, Su Lang felt satisfied, clearing away the frustration of being oppressed by them before. He didn’t respond to their apologies, offering only a mysterious smile before walking away.

Yang Tai and Li Manli, seeing Su Lang’s lack of response, assumed he held a grudge and feared he might seek revenge. Their faces turned pale with anxiety.

Su Lang glanced back with a playful smile. Although Yang Tai and Li Manli were detestable, he wouldn’t hold it against them for Yang Jingwan’s sake. He chose not to respond to give them a scare.

“My wife should be done with her makeup by now. I wonder what her reaction will be when she sees all this…” Su Lang mused to himself. He intended to transform from a useless son-in-law to an invincible god of war at the wedding, all to win Yang Jingwan’s heart. He had prepared for this day extensively and invested significantly, naturally feeling anticipation and excitement.

Time passed quietly, and the wedding was about to begin. For convenience, Yang Jingwan’s makeup room was inside the Century Hotel. Seeing that the time was right, Su Lang led the groomsmen to Yang Jingwan’s room. According to the plan, Su Lang would escort Yang Jingwan from the room to the wedding venue, where the ceremony would commence.

In the hallway outside the room, a group of bridesmaids, dressed to impress, stood guard. The hallway was lined with chairs, each holding a glass of wine. The implication was clear: to pass through, one had to drink all the wine. However, the hallway was quite long, and drinking a path through it was no easy feat.

“You guys go ahead,” Su Lang instructed the groomsmen.

The groomsmen, nine in total and all distinguished in their fields, began drinking. However, after two or three glasses each, they struggled. Soon, they were incapacitated, barely able to stand.

“Useless,” Su Lang couldn’t help but mutter.

“This wine is really strong, can’t handle it…”

“What kind of wine is this? Stronger than vodka…”

The groomsmen complained.

Seeing this, Su Lang prepared to tackle the challenge alone. He had a high tolerance for alcohol, practically never getting drunk, so drinking his way through wasn’t a problem. However, after about ten glasses, he stumbled. This wine… was indeed strong.

Su Lang decided to stop drinking. He still had to deal with the intruders at the wedding, so he needed to stay completely sober. With this in mind, Su Lang called over the ten shadow guards disguised as servers protecting Yang Jingwan. With their help, many of the drinks in the hallway were cleared. However, they also had tasks to perform and couldn’t get drunk, so they stopped there.

Yet, even with their efforts, half the path to Yang Jingwan’s room remained. Drinking their way through seemed nearly impossible.

“We can’t do it. Just take it easy and remove the rest,” Su Lang said to the bridesmaids.

“You can’t take the bride without finishing the drinks!”

“Exactly, exactly!”

“A man can’t admit defeat, keep drinking!”

The bridesmaids jeered.

Seeing this, Su Lang was displeased, silently blaming Cheng Rui for not handling things properly. These bridesmaids were all arranged by Cheng Rui, and now they were clearly making things difficult. What was going on here?

Su Lang considered kicking away the drinks in the hallway and breaking down the door to carry Yang Jingwan out. But he only thought about it. After all, it was a joyous occasion, and he didn’t want to break the rules.

Thinking it over, Su Lang decided to call Yang Jingwan. He couldn’t get through, but she could come out on her own.

Soon, the call connected.

“Wife, these bridesmaids are too much. We can’t get in. Please come out quickly; the wedding is about to start!”

“You… you can’t… can’t come in without… without finishing the drinks. I… I won’t come… out,” Yang Jingwan’s voice was slurred, her words disjointed.
