Su Lang dialed Ma Hongsheng’s number.

“Help me with something,” he said.

As the call connected, Su Lang set aside his gentle demeanor toward Yang Jingwan and reverted to his usual indifferent self. This was the true face of the God of War. To him, apart from Yang Jingwan, all beings under heaven were like ants.

“Lord War God, please… please instruct me,” Ma Hongsheng, still lying in a hospital bed and recuperating, spoke weakly.

“My wife works at a real estate office. Arrange for some people to go there and buy houses, but make sure they don’t know it’s me doing this.”

“Yes, Lord, I will arrange for people to pretend to be regular customers and buy houses,” Ma Hongsheng readily agreed. The houses could be given as year-end bonuses to employees, so they wouldn’t go to waste. Moreover, being able to do something for the God of War was an honor. Ma Hongsheng had no reason to refuse.

However, he was a bit puzzled and asked, “Lord God of War, she’s already your wife, so why do you still want to hide your identity?”

“Do I need you to teach me how to handle my affairs?” Su Lang retorted coldly. He wanted to win over Yang Jingwan’s heart as an ordinary person, not by using his identity as the God of War. But Su Lang wouldn’t explain this to Ma Hongsheng.

“Lord God of War, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have asked,” Ma Hongsheng was startled and spoke humbly.

“Just do what I asked and keep out of things that don’t concern you,” Su Lang warned again.

“Yes, I will do as you instructed. By tomorrow morning, someone will go to your wife’s office to buy a house,” Ma Hongsheng quickly replied.

“No wonder he’s the God of War; he really knows how to put on a show,” Wang Haoran secretly mocked.

He had been monitoring Yang Jingwan’s phone, but she had left in a huff without taking it with her. He heard everything Su Lang said on the call. Hearing Su Lang’s plan to secretly help Yang Jingwan, Wang Haoran silently gave him a thumbs up. Since Su Lang liked to keep things hidden, Wang Haoran would let him continue. It worked to his advantage.

“What are you still doing at my door? Get out!” Yang Jingwan had returned to retrieve her phone after realizing she forgot it. Seeing Su Lang still standing there, she irritably told him off.

“I’m leaving,” Su Lang obediently left.

Buzz buzz.

Just as Su Lang left, Yang Jingwan’s phone suddenly rang. It was a video call from Wang Haoran. Yang Jingwan couldn’t help but feel delighted. Afraid that Su Lang might eavesdrop, she quickly locked the door. After doing so, she answered the video call like a thief.

The video connected. On the other end, Wang Haoran was wearing a bathrobe, and the background decor seemed a bit like a hotel.

“Young Master Wang, are you at a hotel?” Yang Jingwan couldn’t help but ask.

“I never spend the night at hotels. I’m at home,” Wang Haoran replied earnestly. Hearing this, Fang Xuan and Wen Jing, who were off-camera, couldn’t help but roll their eyes.

Yang Jingwan nodded and didn’t ask further.

“Miss Yang, how’s the project going?” Wang Haoran suddenly asked.

“It’s settled. My dad has already signed the contract,” Yang Jingwan looked at the camera, expressing her gratitude to Wang Haoran.

“That’s good,” Wang Haoran nodded, then added, “You seem a bit unhappy. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, really.” Yang Jingwan couldn’t bring herself to ask Wang Haoran for help again with her work troubles, so she didn’t mention her worries.

“Women are usually unhappy for two reasons: career or family. Which one is it for you, Miss Yang?” Wang Haoran already knew but didn’t want to be too direct.

Hearing this, Yang Jingwan was slightly taken aback, thinking that Young Master Wang was indeed observant. He must be someone who pays attention to details in life. Whoever becomes his girlfriend would surely be lucky.

“It’s because of work,” Yang Jingwan replied, following Wang Haoran’s lead.

“I remember you said you’re a real estate salesperson. Is it because your performance this month isn’t good? I happen to know some friends looking to buy houses. Where do you work? I’ll introduce them to you tomorrow,” Wang Haoran said directly, feeling it was a good time to offer help.

He dared to say this because he overheard Su Lang instructing Ma Hongsheng to send people to pretend to buy houses. Since the people sent wouldn’t reveal who was behind it, he could take credit for it with Yang Jingwan.

“Are you… are you serious?” Yang Jingwan asked in surprise.

“Of course, I’m not joking.”

“You just helped me with a big favor, and now I’m troubling you again. I feel so embarrassed,” Yang Jingwan said, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

“We’re friends, aren’t we? There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. That’s it, bye-bye.” Wang Haoran ended the conversation decisively, not giving Yang Jingwan a chance to refuse, and hung up the call.

After hanging up, Wang Haoran made another call.

That night, in a teacher’s dormitory.

“Yunhan, it’s getting late. Why don’t we wash up and go to bed early?” Mu Zhaozhao, feeling sleepy as she looked at her homework, turned to Qin Yunhan.

“It’s not even midnight yet. Let’s study a bit more,” Qin Yunhan said, diligently working on her homework while occasionally taking a bite of the large papaya on the table.

“Yunhan, what’s gotten into you? Why are you suddenly studying so hard?” Mu Zhaozhao asked curiously.

“The college entrance exam is less than a month away. If I don’t work hard now, when will I?” Qin Yunhan lectured with an air of maturity.

“Why are you, a rich young lady, working so hard? You were born at the peak of life, and your grades are pretty good. You could easily get into a top university, right?”

“I’m planning to apply to Qingling University. My current grades aren’t stable enough, so I need to put in more effort.”

“Why do you suddenly want to go to Qingling University?” Mu Zhaozhao asked, curious.

“It’s the best university in Qingling, and I don’t want to study out of town. Of course, I want to go to Qingling University,” Qin Yunhan fibbed, then directed Mu Zhaozhao, “You should apply to Qingling University too, so we can be in the same school again.”

“Getting into Qingling University is easy for me. I don’t even need to try,” Mu Zhaozhao said, not wanting to be separated from Qin Yunhan, but feeling no pressure about getting into Qingling University.

“Hmph, pfft!” Qin Yunhan couldn’t help but scoff at her friend’s smugness.

Although Mu Zhaozhao’s actions were sometimes brainless and her emotional intelligence was low, her intelligence was decent, and her academic performance was better than Qin Yunhan’s.

“Yunhan, you’re so unhygienic. Your spit got on my face,” Mu Zhaozhao protested, pouting.

“Still feeling smug?” Qin Yunhan made a face.

“Fine, Yunhan, you’re younger, I’ll let you have this one,” Mu Zhaozhao said generously, but her gaze drifted below Qin Yunhan’s neck, clearly implying something else.

“Ah! I’ll strangle you!!!” Qin Yunhan, realizing what she meant, went berserk and lunged at Mu Zhaozhao with playful aggression.
