Chapter 122: A Bet
“What is that man’s name?” Shen Kang demanded.
“I don’t know,” Mrs. Shen shook her head in panic.
“You shameless woman, you spent the night with him and you tell me you don’t know his name?” Shen Kang laughed angrily.
“I really don’t know,” Mrs. Shen replied, trembling.
“You wretch, you just picked some random man. Wait until I find him, then I’ll deal with you!”
Shen Kang temporarily ignored Mrs. Shen and started scrolling through his phone contacts, finding a number and dialing it.
The Wang family is wealthy and powerful, and he can’t afford to provoke them. But he certainly won’t swallow his anger over this unknown person who cuckolded him.
The call connected.
“Crow, how much to break a leg?” Shen Kang asked angrily.
“Depends on whether it’s the left or right leg,” a harsh, grating voice replied, sounding like a crow’s caw.
“The third leg.”
“One million.”
“Deal, but I want to be there to watch.”
“No problem, send me the details.”
“There’s only a full-body screenshot. Can you find him?”
“Absolutely, we’re professionals. Wait for my call.”
…
“Crow?” Wang Haoran murmured to himself.
In the video he anonymously sent to Shen Kang, he had embedded a surveillance virus. As long as Shen Kang let the video play for ten seconds, the virus would successfully infiltrate.
After Shen Kang watched the video, Wang Haoran heard everything that happened on the other side.
From Shen Kang’s words, it was clear he intended to have this “Crow” deal with Yan Guishan’s third leg.
Given Yan Guishan’s skills, if Crow and Shen Kang went, they would likely be walking into a trap.
However, Wang Haoran didn’t really care who won. He had another plan in mind.
But to execute this plan, he needed to know when and where Crow would act against Yan Guishan.
“I’ve got it.”
After a brief thought, Wang Haoran quickly thought of someone. He hailed a cab and headed straight to the Black Peony Bar.
The bar was as busy as ever. The hall was crowded, and the dance floor was a chaotic scene.
The air was filled with the pungent smell of alcohol, and the music was loud and restless.
Wang Haoran booked a private room and asked the drink server girl he had met before to pass a message.
Before long, Zuoqiu Chenyu arrived at the private room.
After not seeing her for days, Zuoqiu Chenyu was as enchanting as ever. Her every move was captivating, as beautiful as a fairy.
Wang Haoran really wanted to tame this enchantress. Unfortunately, this big sister was too tough; coercion and temptation had no effect on her.
He could only slowly build up goodwill and then win her over. But currently, Zuoqiu Chenyu’s goodwill towards him was only at 20, far from enough to win her over.
What a headache.
“Want something to drink?” Zuoqiu Chenyu sat next to Wang Haoran, her voice sultry.
Wang Haoran suddenly caught a whiff of the fragrance emanating from Zuoqiu Chenyu and, instead of answering her question, he suddenly named a famous foreign perfume:
“Imperial Majesty.”
“You can actually tell what perfume a woman is wearing?” Zuoqiu Chenyu looked at Wang Haoran in surprise.
“Just happened to know. This perfume costs about 400,000 per bottle. You’re quite willing to spend,” Wang Haoran said meaningfully.
He knew this not because he was knowledgeable about perfumes, but because Zhen Li often used this perfume. After smelling it many times, he naturally became familiar with it.
“If you regret it, you can take the money back,” Zuoqiu Chenyu feigned indifference, but she was actually quite nervous.
Because she had been spending extravagantly on beauty products and clothes, half of the ten million was already gone in less than ten days.
“Since I gave it to you, I won’t take it back. Spend it however you like,” Wang Haoran waved his hand.
He hoped Zuoqiu Chenyu would spend lavishly. Once she got used to such high-end consumption, it would be hard to go back.
Because it’s easy to go from frugality to luxury, but hard to go from luxury to frugality.
Once the money was gone, Zuoqiu Chenyu would have to rely on him.
Putting aside these thoughts, Wang Haoran remembered his main purpose and asked:
“Do you know someone called Crow?”
“The head of a new underground force in Qingling,” Zuoqiu Chenyu replied, gritting her teeth.
“You have a grudge against him?” Wang Haoran noticed the hint of resentment in Zuoqiu Chenyu’s expression.
“This Crow caused me trouble several times to make a name for himself when he first started out. But I was determined to go legit, so I chose to endure it. But I still haven’t swallowed this anger.”
“He recently took a million-dollar job to break someone’s third leg. Can you find someone to keep an eye on him for me and let me know if there’s any movement?”
“You want to deal with him?” Zuoqiu Chenyu was slightly taken aback, then said with a hint of sarcasm:
“Crow’s influence is quite large now, with many underlings. Even if you can fight dozens, can you fight hundreds?”
Hearing this, Wang Haoran couldn’t help but laugh.
This woman really underestimated him, didn’t she?
But indeed, the strength he showed last time only made Zuoqiu Chenyu think he could fight dozens.
“How about we make a bet? If I can take down Crow and his gang, you agree to do something for me, and vice versa.” Wang Haoran borrowed this tactic from Chu Bai.
“It’s better to clarify the stakes first. If I win, I want my freedom. If you win, what do you want me to do?”
Zuoqiu Chenyu, being an experienced player, was very cautious. She wasn’t the kind of naive heroine who would easily fall into a trap.
“If I win, you just have to feed me a drink,” Wang Haoran proposed a reasonable stake.
Zuoqiu Chenyu, this big sister, was too tough and cautious. It was nearly impossible to win her over with a simple bet.
But winning her over was inevitable sooner or later.
However, given the current situation, it was clearly impossible.
But this enchantress was too alluring.
After some thought, Wang Haoran decided to take a little interest from Zuoqiu Chenyu to satisfy his craving.
“Just feed you a drink, that simple?” Zuoqiu Chenyu was a bit surprised.
“Since you put it that way, consider the bet accepted.”
“I’d like you to clarify a bit more.”
Wang Haoran stood up from the sofa, smiled faintly, and looked at Zuoqiu Chenyu’s fiery red lips:
“Next time I come to you, remember to wipe off your lipstick. I don’t like the taste of lipstick.”
Zuoqiu Chenyu watched as Wang Haoran left her sight, tacitly agreeing to the bet.
Considering the stakes, Zuoqiu Chenyu thought it was worth a gamble.
If she won, she would regain her freedom.
And if she lost, although there would be a loss, it wasn’t something she couldn’t accept.
